Jacqui Smith, forced to quit as British interior minister last year after claiming porn on parliamentary expenses, lost her seat Friday in the British parliament to the opposition Conservatives.

The 47-year-old, among the first to be caught up in an MPs' expenses scandal that rocked the political establisment, lost her Redditch seat in central England.

She was defeated by Conserative candidate Karen Lumley in Thursday's general election.

Smith stepped down as a cabinet minister in June last year after it emerged that she filed a claim that included five pay-per-view films, including two X-rated movies viewed by her husband, Richard Timney.

Her case was followed by a string of relevations over lawmakers' expenses, which showed they used public money to claim everything from flat screen televisions to tennis court repairs.
