BAE Systems said Wednesday it had won a 500-million-pound (779 million dollar) order to supply 57 Hawk trainer jets to India's military.

The contract, signed with Hindustan Aeronautics in the presence of British Prime Minister David Cameron, is seen as the highlight of a raft of trade agreements expected during the leader's visit.

Rolls-Royce announced separately that it had clinched a 200-million-pound deal to supply Adour engines for the aircraft, which India plans to use to train its pilots for flying supersonic combat jets such as the Jaguar.
