An International Manufacturer of Industrial Automation solutions is looking to recruit a Technical Account Manager to develop the accounts within the UK further. With your own office on the premises of their main distributor in the West Midlands, this is a Field Based role where you are expected to manage the existing £2M of accounts and further expand the UK.

While relatively new to the UK, the company has 55 staff Worldwide (mainly European) and is part of a multi-million engineering conglomerate. This career role is one where internal promotion and taking opportunities within the Wider group are encouraged.

The Role

Develop new projects from within the existing accounts and secure new business. The company works uniquely Europe-wide in two-week cycles. In week one of the cycle, the whole firm works collaboratively to book client meetings, prepare quotes, have internal discussions and catch up on admin. The second week is dedicated to four face-to-face field visits requiring some O/N stays.

The role specifies components into OEMs and system integrators, as is a project-based technical sale. However, your business understanding and drive are more important than engineering skills, as you are fully supported by your technical colleagues and those from the distributor.

The role is a 360 sales role where you will be responsible for the whole sales cycle from start to finish. The company generates numerous enquiries as they are often the only manufacturer to deliver the required complex automation solutions. Consequently, they provide high-quality/high-margin solutions.

What's Required

* An entrepreneurial mindset – someone that wants to work in an environment where you are encouraged to run a 'business within a business'. Internally, you are referred to as a Business Unit Manager, not a Salesperson.

* 2 years plus in technical sales, ideally selling into OEMs.

* Experience in selling to a broad range of customers. The buoyant markets are specialist automotive (commercial and high performance), defence and electric vehicles.

* Someone strategic, can work independently and is looking for a long-term career role.

* Passport – induction takes place in Germany and Scandinavia with a willingness to travel as required by the role.

* Results-oriented person that can articulate their long-term goals and aspirations.
