Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist (band 6) Salary: negotiable based on experience Sutton Job Start: September 2021 On behalf of a specialist school, we are seeking to recruit a Speech and Language Therapist for a permanent position to start in September 2021. The school will are looking for someone to work at the band 6 level. The school caters for pupils with a wide range of needs up to the age of 18. The school offers a broad and vibrant education, leading to GCSEs and/or vocational qualifications, which are tailored to the individual needs of each pupil. The school helps young people whose education has been adversely affected by Specific Learning Difficulties, namely dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, speech and language difficulties; Autistic Spectrum Disorder; Asperger syndrome; Auditory Processing Disorder; Verbal Dyspraxia; and ADD/ADHD. Pupils are taught by qualified teachers, support staff and therapeutic staff, including speech & language therapists, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists. As such, you will be joining a team of dedicated staff all working together to ensure the very best support for pupils at the school. Job Responsibilities • Assess and provide therapeutic input to students with speech and language difficulties, including initial assessments, annual reviews, transition support, individual and group therapy programmes. • Independently manage and prioritise a defined caseload to meet SALT requirements of students. • Liaise with all involved professionals and relatives as appropriate to the management of the individual. • Collaborative working with other members of the staff team to support complex needs in a multi-disciplinary approach. • Keep accurate and informative case notes in line with professional standards. • To develop and maintain the skills and knowledge required of a specialist Speech and Language Therapist with children in the school setting including appropriate screening techniques, assessments, interventions and multidisciplinary education. • To identify, develop and deliver in-service training for education staff, other professionals, students and parents / carers and modify training packages according to the needs of training participants. • To attend Service Meetings, Team Meetings, and training days, and contribute to the development and delivery of Speech and Language Therapy. • To demonstrate the ability to reflect on practice with peers and mentors and identify own strengths and development needs. • To adapt practice to meet individual student circumstances and highlight the need to vary or differentiate practice to the SENCo or support staff so that there is effective sharing of learning from practice. • Engage in CPD activities and engage in clinical self-reflection.
