Founded in 1952, it has over 54,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population. As part of the College’s Sales and Marketing team, the Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for leading the planning, development and delivery of commercial partnerships and new business. This role will be integral in developing long-term relationships with key stakeholder groups, advertising and sponsorship partners as well as proposing and developing innovative ways to bring new revenue streams to the College. Responsible for managing the sales team, this role will also ensure the Relationship Manager and Sponsorship Executive are delivering to their objectives, achieving revenue targets for key products and maximizing sponsorship opportunities for the RCGP. This individual must be able to take a strategic view and work on own initiative, with excellent communication and organisational skills. They need to have a good working knowledge of SalesForce and have a proven track record with consultative sales. They need to be a confident communicator, used to managing stakeholders in the public sector, and developing and maintaining client relationships to a senior level. As part of this role they will: • Own the Sponsorship strategy for the RCGP, working closely with the Head of Marketing to deliver a Sponsorship solution, including effective management of the Sponsorship Executive. • Lead RCGP+ partnerships, including direct onboarding of new partners outside of the 3rd party supplier, supporting the business strategy by ensuring revenue targets are achieved. • Develop and lead accounts and relationships to ensure Enterprises’ CPD offerings (both e-learning and events) achieve necessary revenue targets from partner income. • Lead and develop ad hoc new business opportunities across the college, including business case development, review, writing of bid proposals etc. as required. • Ensure all commercial activities can be clearly reported against agreed KPIs. • Lead, manage and develop two members of staff (Relationship Manager and Sponsorship Executive). Degree level or equivalent level of relevant experience is essential.
