The Royal Oak is a traditionally built pub of longstanding note, having been built in the late 19th century.

Please double check you have the right level of experience and qualifications by reading the full overview of this opportunity below.

It has a long history of links to boxing, indeed a former boxing gym is still in evidence on the first floor.

The pub occupies a corner position and fronts one of the main roads in to Cardiff, namely Newport Road.

It retains a number of original features, including stained glass windows, small trading areas and decorative internal glazing and has been a listed building since 2006.

It has a large main bar, a lounge, a small snug, a function room, catering kitchen and a south facing beer garden.

Its customers are mostly local residents from the surrounding area although there are locals who visit the pub from further afield having previously been local customers for a significant period of time.

The pub has a reputation for great Brains bitter cask and this, as well as the food opportunity, is something that any new operator would do well to maintain and look to improve.

We are looking for an experienced operator with a history of developing trade, in particular cask ale and a complementary food offer.

They should be interested in growing the pub to become the heart of the community and be able to identify new customers to attract.

The function room and catering kitchen are two areas that a new operator should be looking to improve on.

Let your big ideas for your own pub run free as a foundation partner.
