We are looking to add to our team at Pall, working at our site at Harbourgate in Portsmouth, you would be working very closely with R&D and Manufacturing teams to drive product reliability from the initial design stages through to full manufacturing transfer, product launch and early sales.
The role will also support reliability improvement initiatives for legacy products when required.
Position Objective The R&D team develops products and systems to be used in the Biotech industry, which may include hardware, control systems and disposable products associated with our portfolio of bio-containers, mixers, bioreactors and supporting devices such as sterile connectors.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Work within R&D teams to assist in developing highly reliable products through application of Danaher reliability tools (e.g.
Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis, structured problem solving, reliability modeling, reliability predictions, etc.) Understand Design for Reliability (DFR) tools and their application.
Run and participate in design risk assessments Act as “mini” project manager of project reliability swim lane, responsible for reliability within project Manage System/Design FMEA and Reliability Plans/Targets in NPD projects as sole reliability expert with moderate guidance and support Develop and implement test plans Problem solving to determine root cause of any design-related reliability issues and manage, plan and implement corrective actions Participate in process mapping and production readiness reviews Assist in reliability evaluation of new technologies and suppliers Perform and support supplier technical audits and assess reliability of bought-in components Support transfer of new products from R&D to manufacturing Work with R&D, Manufacturing and Quality groups to help resolve customer complaints / manufacturing issues during early commercial stages Work with maintenance and service personnel to produce documentation packs prior to product launch Participate in change management and life cycle management activities Work with design teams on plastic components and interact with suppliers on reliability improvements as required Role requirements: Bachelor’s degree or HND/C in engineering (mechanical, electrical or design) or equivalent qualifications such as engineering experience and training such as ONC/HNC) 2-3 years or more of relevant professional experience, preferably as a reliability engineer or role with relevant technical experience in new product development /NPI/manufacturing Knowledge of automated equipment or plastic components design an advantage Strong background in a transferrable industry such as defence, aviation, other highly regulated industry requiring reliability predictions and engineering Strong technical problem-solving skills and techniques/structure (e.g.
lean sigma) Solution driven with strong sense of urgency Keen interest in science/technology and a desire to completely understand products Proficiency in English Very good reporting skills, adjusted to your audience To be comfortable working with ambiguity and uncertainty particularly in early stages of projects Willingness to occasionally travel to visit other Pall sites, suppliers and customers.
Knowledge of process, equipment and component validation Experience of continuous improvement initiatives Desirable
– Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry (e.g.
