Public Sector Co-ordinator

We have an opportunity for a Coordinator to join our Public Sector team in London. The role will coordinate public sector activity across the Wates Group, including public affairs activities involving the Wates Family, the Executive Committee, business units and projects. The role also has a strategic dimension which will include providing detailed analysis of stakeholders and Government spending priorities. Key Accountabilities will include: • Coordinating public sector events related to our projects, so that the Wates Group gains maximum traction with political stakeholders (including Ministers, MPs, senior civil servants, Local Authorities etc.) • Creating in-depth stakeholder analysis for key Government departments to inform colleagues • Managing the administration of the Group Public Sector Committee • Ad hoc strategy work, as directed by the Group Public Sector Director • Communications activities, for example in the provision of briefing materials for events, speaking notes, and research for the preparation of public affairs material, including responses to Government consultations and White Papers • Management of the public sector messaging matrix, statistics and information • Attending monthly public relations meetings with our communications agency, the Communications & Marketing Director and the Group Public Sector Director, providing communications and research support • Maintaining our political database, keeping an up to date record of political engagement across the Group • Maintain the public sector Yammer group, ensuring that colleagues are kept updated on relevant public sector policy, news and activities. We are looking for someone with a passion for politics and government, as well as excellent writing and organisation skills, and with the ability to think strategically. This role would suit someone who has studied politics or public affairs, or who may have experience of working in politics or the civil service and is looking to take their first step into a role in the private sector. To be successful in the role you will have a high level of professionalism, honesty and integrity, along with the ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels whilst building excellent relationships with partners, consultants and the supply chain.
