Exciting opportunity for a production supervisor in Doncaster 39hrs per week Overall purpose: To manage the day to day running of the Doncaster Production team who are skilled in welding and fabricating, electrical, assemblers of steel work, gates and entrance control. The Production Supervisor's role is to ensure that targets and deadlines are being met in line with customer requirements. The role also includes ensuring employees comply with health and safety requirements. Reports to: Operations manager Responsible for: 3 Team Leaders, 7 Skilled Operatives, 8 Semi Skilled Operatives and 2 Production Operatives. Numbers subject to change Work environment and requirements: This role is based within a manufacturing and office environment General Description: General Duties • Oversee day-to-day operations • Support Operations Manager on projects • Establish priorities to ensure manufacturing team works most efficiently • Ensure all correct production processes are followed • Developing and implementing production policies and procedures • Ensure that all H&S procedures are adhered to • Ensure that quality standards are met within the production targets • Identify and implement improvements to ensure maximum efficiency is maintained Generates and shares comprehensive and detailed reports about team performance, mission-related • objectives and deadlines • Implementing recommended manufacturing cost reduction strategies • Check manufacturing equipment to ensure efficient workflow is maintained • Delegate tasks to meet production deadlines • Using the ERP system, Navision, for reporting and ensuring the system is kept up to date • Following plans that are prepared for workforce requirements prior to shifts commencing • Checking production output to specifications • Set and maintain standards at all times leading by example • Addressing production problems that arise People Management • Creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture • Conducts team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations • Setting clear daily, weekly and monthly team goals and objectives • Lead and manage the Production team, ensuring key tasks are prioritised so the production facilities runs smoothly • Motivating your team and encourage creativity • Listen to team members' feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts • Suggest and organise team building activities • Carry out people management duties including employee relation situations including; – Performance management – Absence management including absence review meetings and dealing with long and short term absence – Dealing with investigations, disciplinary and grievances – Workplace conflict • Recruit, hire and train new production workers to perform their duties • Identify training needs and provide coaching • Recognising high performance and reward accomplishments Skills: Essential: • Must be able to read and understand technical/engineering drawings • Good working level of ICT skills on applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook • Experience in fabrication and welding Desirable: • Lean manufacturing qualification or • H&S qualification or Sigma qualification or Degree in relevant field Essential: • Flexible and adaptable to ways of working depending on business requirements • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills • Good organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workloads • Effective communication skills and collaborative • Leadership and influential skills • Self-motivated and results driven • Committed to delivering the utmost service/support to the business and our customers • Reliable team player Essential: • Wealth of experience of working within a supervisory role • Wealth of people management experience including employee relations (for example, investigations, disciplinary, grievances, absence management and performance management) • Experience in fabrication and welding to be able to provide coaching to your team • Lean manufacturing experience • Good at building working relationships • Flexible and adaptable approach to work and ways of working • Constructively and logically resolving situations • Extensive H&S knowledge of procedures Desirable: • Worked within a manufacturing environment within the construction industry Pay: £30,000-£32,000 Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
