We have a unique opportunity to develop innovative non-invasive technologies that can revolutionise healthcare and security applications. We look forward to welcoming a Physicist / Applied Mathematician to join our team. In the role you will be responsible for furthering the understanding of the fundamentals of the technology, developing mathematical models, algorithms as well as machine learning models, all of which will support Zedsen in moving to its next stage of growth – the application of its sensor technology to commercial products. Reporting to the Lead Simulation Engineer, you will be integral in furthering our understanding and application of the fundamental physics underlying our core technology.

  • Develop and maintain models and algorithms relating to the core technology on electric fields and dielectrics as applicable to materials and bio-sensing, using first principles as well as appropriate 3rd party applications
  • Propose and design experimentation capable of interrogating model accuracy where appropriate
  • Be able to validate models against experimental results
  • Support the expansion of the core technology and IP portfolio through the implementation of applied mathematical modelling


  • Self-starter with attention to detail
  • Strong graduate or postgraduate degree in physics, applied mathematics or theoretical engineering and a good understanding of electric fields
  • Good understanding of signal processing and analysis in both time and frequency domain
  • Experience with using the finite element method (FEM) either in open source software (fenics/freefem++) or via commercial software (comsol) would be desirable
  • Solid foundation in version control tools and collaborative software development
  • Experience in MATLAB and Python
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player
  • Experience in the medical device industry or related fields would be an asset
