Consumer Products, North London with flexible working Our client is a thriving global consumer products business searching for a friendly & motivated Operations Manager to join their team. They are looking for an enterprising, people-oriented candidate who has the drive to help a successful company grow. You will take ownership of the product flow through the business, formulating strategy to maximise efficiencies business-wide, and streamlining and improving where needed. You will be responsible for managing the supply and demand for the business, forecasting & demand planning, ensuring OTIF deliveries to customer, and that purchasing is optimised, and dispatch is prompt. Ultimately ensuring the route to market is as swift, accurate and cost-effective as possible so best possible service is given to customers.The successful candidate will be bright, a proactive problem solver, solution oriented, and driven. An excellent communicator and relationship builder at all levels both internally and externally, you will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar Supply Chain / Operational / Demand Planning role within a consumer product business, and be very team focussed. Duties as Operations Manager include: • Take ownership of and responsibility for stock – from purchase with vendor, through shipping, warehousing, and ultimately out to customer, ensuring items are delivered on time, in full, whilst maximising cost efficiencies • Looking at the effectiveness of processes and initiating continuous improvement and streamlining initiatives for your department to ensure the business is as agile as possible • Take ownership of and accountability for stock and forecasting for the business, accurately forecasting, demand planning and managing the inventory to maximise stock efficiencies and product flow, ensuring the needs and demand of the customer and sales team are met • Manage the supply chain function and sales functions of the business end-to-end • Looking at the OTB, managing budget, and monitoring actuals versus forecast • Liaising with global teams, responsible for both inbound and outbound stock, from purchasing through to arrival at DC • Ultimate responsibility for the order book, ensuring efficiency and accuracy at all times • Manage the customer service team, looking at costs, output, and efficiencies • Review current purchasing and production processes and strategies, with a view to optimising manufacturing volumes, and exit strategies for slow moving stock • Vendor management, setting KPIs, and regularly reviewing suppliers • Responsibility for 3PLs, ensuring best performance and cost efficiencies are achieved, capacity planning, cost analysis, and identifying any areas of improvement • Foster growth within the business by streamlining practices and improving speed to market to maximise sales and achieve financial targets • Minimise impact on the business by foreseeing potential issues, proactively problem solving, ensuring the route to market is as smooth and swift as possible • Primary point of contact with the global HQ • Take ownership of various Operational projects as required by the business • Manage the team, setting KPIs, ensuring balanced workloads, and providing appropriate training and development opportunities • Reporting as required across the business, form daily to yearly • Always driving improvements to the culture of the business, promoting best practice, and developing and mentoring the team Experience and attributes required for this Operations Manager position: • 4+ years’ relevant experience in a similar Supply Chain / Operations / Forecasting role working for a consumer product business • Solid demand planning / forecasting / inventory management experience • Experience managing Global vendors and managing 3PLs • People management experience or supervisory experience would be ideal, with the ability and desire to nurture, mentor, develop and inspire a team • Experience with sales order management, supplying major key accounts / the grocers in particular would be a distinct benefit • A proactive problem solver – the ability to foresee, identify and solve problems, and ultimately drive and implement solutions • Project management experience would be ideal • A high level of numeracy and analytical ability • SAP experience an advantage • Results driven, process oriented and strategic, with the ability to delegate as needed • Excellent communicator and relationship builder at all levels, both internally and externally – a natural people person with excellent negotiation skills • Highly organised and an excellent multi-tasker, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously • Positive outlook, a proactive approach, and a key team player
