The main purpose of this role (known internally as an IS Operator) is to ensure the smooth running operation of the IS Machine in the Glass department.

We are recruiting for start dates of 9th JANUARY 2023. Full training is provided.

Options for overtime available once training is completed.


Salary: £29,312 including shift allowance + Discretionary Annual Bonus

Main Responsibilities

Reporting into the Shift Manager this role requires high level of health and safety including but not limited to:

Comply with Health & Safety and Environmental Policies

Comply with the General Risk Assessments

Comply with the Manual Handling Risk Assessments

Comply with COSHH Risk Assessments

Take appropriate actions in emergency situations

Production and Quality;

Carry out all tasks relevant to I.S machine operation as per instruction from forming teams.

Regularly check bottle sets for defects and potential defects including gauging.

Detect any defects in the glass and rectify using best practices.

To endeavour to have all defects rectified before they have been reported from Cold End.

Report promptly to line controller and supervision any potential or suspected quality defects

Monitor Radar systems and action any process changes.

Monitor swab robot performance and ensure lubrication product and cleaning materials are readily available

Maintain maximum production efficiency and minimum down time.

Train and mentor lower grade operators.

Record to Fenix at beginning and end of shift all machine settings, Forehearth temperatures, pressures settings, cooling settings and availability of spare tools.

Inform supervision of non-conformances and or take appropriate remedial action.

Ensure an adequate supply of spare tools are always available.

Ensure an adequate handover to next operator is complete at shift change.


Maintain health and safety in the work place and ensure work area is kept in accordance with housekeeping standards.
