Innovate UK Lead Specialist – Portfolio Insights Salary: £50,702 gross per annum Grade: UKRI Band F Location: Field Based Contract type: Permanent Closing date: Sunday 18 July Innovate UK works with people, companies and partner organisations to find and drive the science and technology innovations that will grow the UK economy – delivering productivity, new jobs and exports. Our aim is to keep the UK globally competitive in the race for future prosperity. Innovate UK is a partner organisation within UK Research and Innovation. The strategic insights team is about putting information and insight at the forefront of decision making. We go beyond simple, static reports by exploring and explaining context and developing narratives to enable partners to draw significant insights. We discover novel datasets and use sophisticated analytical techniques then add contextual knowledge of businesses, the innovation landscape, and wider economy to get more value from data. You’ll be in the analysis vanguard developing and delivering compelling data analysis to provide information, evidence, and impactful insights on Innovate UK’s allocation of resource and funding in the delivery of its strategic aims and to drive future Innovation policy making. In addition, you will be expected to: • Lead on developing a programme of proactive and reactive portfolio analysis on Innovate UK’s activities, their context in the innovation landscape and their performance through the lens of diverse groups, regions, technologies, sectors and more. • Use your creativity and curiosity to think about things differently, ask the unobvious questions to deliver compelling insights to customers. • Design and deliver reproducible analysis to meet partners’ needs and interpret the results to provide insights to strategic decision making across the organisation, and narrative & context to our audiences. • Lead on the identification and delivery of collaborative analysis projects with external partners. • Build a detailed understanding of the data available, in Innovate UK, wider government, and in the third and private sectors, to inform our understanding of our activities and place in the innovation landscape. • Engage analysis colleagues from around the organisation to guide analysis delivery in line with the latest techniques and upskill colleagues to build capability. You will be degree educated, with at least 50% of containing a quantitative analysis subject area, such as economics or statistics, or equivalent experience. You will have experience of designing, conducting and communicating analysis of quantitative and qualitative analysis for a diverse set of partners, working with and combining different types of data from multiple sources to build insight and inform decision making and have the ability to quickly understand new and complex issues and to apply solutions.
