Your new role
Hays are recruiting for an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Quality Engineer to join our client on an long term temporary assignment for an approximate duration of 12 months (rolling, reviewed annually). You will be part of a dedicated bespoke purchasing and parts quality team, working closely with engineering to develop exciting new and innovative products. You will ensure that the supplier quality requirements are defined at the early stage in the development process, to allow the supplier's process and procedures to be developed to meet the company's quality expectations.

Key Accountabilities:
* Responsible for delivering the advanced quality planning activities against defined project milestones as outlined within the overall project plan and Industrialisation plan.
* Responsible for closure of all supplier related quality problems (PQM points) throughout the development process and into production.
* Working pro-actively with the suppliers to deliver quality assured components to the plant.
* Representing the organisation at suppliers and defining quality and performance requirements. * Prioritising supplier's development activities and escalating supplier quality and process related topics within the project / department.
* Representing the quality department in bespoke project planning meetings with purchasing, engineering and material planning.
* Responsible for evaluating suppliers during the nomination phase for new projects.
* Responsible for supporting engineering during the project development phase to ensure that any supplier drawings and company standards are clearly defined and understood by suppliers.
* Leading the supplier development after the concept has been defined, which will involve supporting new and existing suppliers to the automotive industry to ensure all of the quality requirements are agreed and implemented.
* Actively supporting the quality technician for everyday plant bespoke quality concerns with new or existing products.

What you will need to succeed
Experience in a parts quality or supplier development role, within an automotive field. A good understanding of advanced quality planning tools and techniques. The knowledge and experience of using structured problem solving tools and techniques. The knowledge of quality management systems QS9000 or DIN/ISO 9001/ISO IATF 16949. Manufacturing process and engineering experience used to accurately assess and predict supplier process conformance. Have the capability to understand and relate technical drawings / specification to actual parts. The ability to communicate and present effectively at all levels. You will be qualified to Degree, HND or equivalent and lastly have good English language skills and a knowledge of business German.
