The Organisation:

An established local authority with various public sector services across Bedford and surrounding Bedfordshire. For over 20 years they have supported people of all backgrounds in living their fullest lives, maintaining high standard of community management and remaining committed to a quality service provision in their housing teams.

The Opportunities:

Our client is seeking an employee on an interim basis, covering early October until late December, or the earliest three-month period possible. There may be scope for this contract to be extended.
Working hours will be 37 hours per week, between Monday to Friday, 8:45AM to 5:15PM.
Pay rate for this role will be £30.00 per hour.  
Housing Advice Worker’s will be working on a hybrid basis, working between a remote location and services across Bedford.
The Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Housing Advice Worker, you will negotiate with private sector landlords and ensure appropriate accommodation for incoming refugees and asylum seekers.
You will offer advice to vulnerable people on matters relating to their financial wellbeing, including welfare & benefits available to them.
Conducting affordability checks and screening procedures on accommodation providers.
The Requirements:

Experience in offering advice relating to housing options to vulnerable adults or young people, considering their financial position and household circumstances.
Experience in liaising with landlords or housing providers with respect to tenants/residents needs.
Understanding of welfare & benefits as well as how to best manage these for social housing residents.
The Desirables:

2 years’ experience across a relevant social housing role, such as a Housing Officer, Housing Options Officer etc.
Proven track-record of ongoing resident management, as well as strong negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to speak Ukrainian and/or Russian.
