Health and Safety Manager (Construction) Location: Basildon Salary: £54,000 – £62,000 Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time Expiry Date: Friday 23 July 2021 About the role The HSE Manager actively promotes a culture of safe working practices within both factories, providing an independent review of daily operations and adherence to Company and Legislative procedures. Ownership of the business risk management processes and oversight of all relevant systems and associated RAMS. Our client are looking for a Solutions focussed, essential member of the team. • Review, develop and communicate all aspects of the company health, safety and well-being policies and procedure. • Develop new safety plans and execute them according to legal and company’s guidelines. • Overall responsibility and compliance of the factory H&S, making sure staff are aware of the importance and follow safety protocol. • Enforce policies that create a safe workplace environment for factory employees • Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and implement such changes where relevant. • Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices in the workplace. • Work proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of health, safety and wellbeing within their areas of responsibility. • Conduct & carry out internal and compliance audits; report on findings and manage issue log through to completion. • Investigate all accidents and near-miss incidents and record the findings • Managing and maintaining emergency procedures such as fire marshals and first aiders. • Carry out Factory Inductions as required and any appropriate H&S Training • Conduct risk assessments and ensure they are reviewed at relevant intervals • Review SOP’s with Production Engineering to ensure SOP’s are compliant to all HSE aspects. • Liaise with management and staff to ensure continued HSE integration into core operations. • Communicate and liaise with Project Teams, Suppliers/3rd parties to agree Safe Systems of Work, standards, systems, efficient flow of documentation, handover and close-out of Project activity • Identify and put in place development and training needs regarding HSE for staff. • Administration of subcontractor’s pre-qualification and maintenance of records. • Manage sub-contractors and ensure Health and Safety compliance with the Swan company’s policies and procedures • Collate, produce and submit HSE Documentation for our client and their Clients • Support to maintain BOPAS and other ISO Accreditations To be a success in this role you will have • Previous experience in a similar role/environment • Experience within Construction/Manufacturing industry • Knowledge of Accreditations and Audits, ISO 45001 (formerly OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 • Qualification in occupational health and safety, such as NVQ (NEBOSH Construction Certificate) or NEBOSH national diploma is essential About Our client Our client are committed to creating beautifully designed, high quality places that fit their customer’s expectations and lifestyles.
