Head of Engagement
An exciting opportunity in a newly created role for an innovative and experienced Head of Engagement to shape and build Pitzhanger’s crucial learning and engagement programme at this exciting stage in our development. This is a key leadership position reporting to the Director and growing the team to deliver real impact across our diverse target audiences. Pitzhanger Manor is the Grade 1 listed ‘country’ house of architect Sir John Soane, designed and built by Soane 1800-1804 in what was then rural Ealing, West London. Its adjacent contemporary Gallery hosts a programme of ambitious and challenging exhibitions of art, architecture and design. Pitzhanger reopened to the public in March 2019 with the Manor restored to Soane’s original designs, and an exhibition of mirror sculptures by Anish Kapoor, following a major HLF and ACE-supported restoration project. This new role will review and develop our crucial learning and engagement offer to ensure we successfully engage a diverse audience and achieve maximum impact, to support delivery of our mission to inspire our communities with art, architecture and design. Reporting to the Director, and working closely with Pitzhanger’s close-knit entrepreneurial team, you will be skilled at delivering outstanding, innovative and popular public engagement and programming within a tight budget that attracts a diverse range of audiences. You will have demonstrable track record of delivering effective and impactful learning and outreach initiatives. You will be passionate about the arts and the impact Pitzhanger can deliver. You will be inspired by the opportunity to work in a small team and on a young venture where your input can make a real difference; you will be flexible and entrepreneurial, and motivated by the potential to help shape and develop the Pitzhanger team. As a member of the Senior Management Team you will have excellent communication skills, a keen attention to detail and an ability to build collaborative relationships both within the organisation as well as with partners and community groups.
