Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst – ArcGIS This role offers flexible working with a combination of working from home and from the office in Congleton. Full time hours available, although applicants with a preference for part time hours will be considered. This is a temporary contract for 3-6 months, with scope to be extended. The Company Gladman are a well-respected and established strategic land promoter based in Congleton, Cheshire. We believe in using our expertise to partner with landowners to help them to realise the true potential of their land through its development for residential or residential led mixed-use development. We are currently recruiting for a GIS Analyst to join our Land and Planning Team. We’ll welcome you and the qualities you bring in joining a wider in-house team of experienced professionals, working on a country-wide portfolio of projects. The Role – GIS Analyst As the GIS Analyst you will be responsible for creating and managing a digital mapping tool for the company. This will predominantly be used to assist our spatial planning and land development teams, to undertake research and collect data by mapping in order to analyse development locations and assess their suitability and sustainability for residential development. This role will require a combination of technical, analytical, cartography and system design skills. In addition, you will be working with teams who have little or no GIS knowledge and will be helping to problem solve and find solutions to unlocking development land across the UK. A background in planning and/or land and development is beneficial but not essential. Day-to-day you will collaborate with the land and planning teams and the role will include, although not be limited to: • Data migration: full conversion from Google KML to ArcGIS, maintaining legacy data and capabilities while helping to grow our business with new technology. • Data extraction: utilising Local Planning Authority publicly accessible datasets and transforming these into useable data formats for further analysis. • Data analysis: analyse data and turn it into visual maps, metrics and readable reports. • Produce maps from analytics: Create maps using analytical data. You'll need to be adept at using GIS software and be a proficient cartographer in order to help non-GIS users understand the data you are presenting to them. • Model building: build models using GIS software to help with workflows and new processes at Gladman, including programmes and databases to assist with site searching. • Develop and maintain GIS training materials and engage with colleagues of all abilities to successfully roll out our digital mapping tool. Our Requirements – GIS Analyst • A minimum of three years’ experience working in the geospatial field. • A master's degree in GIS, environmental sciences or geographical sciences, with advanced knowledge of GIS software. • Excellent data migration / manipulation skills. • Project management experience and mentoring capability as you will be leading and developing our ArcGIS solutions, working on a variety of projects. • Structured Query Language (SQL) database capabilities and excellent GIS skills. • Strong communication skills and be able to interact with all employees, at all levels. • Ability to code in Python (with C#.Net, HTML and JavaScript libraries beneficial) to help with web map data integration and to combine multiple data sources and databases into one system. Although not essential, a background in planning and/or land and development would be beneficial.
