SRG is currently working with a new, exciting biotechnology company, to support their search for a Fluidics Scientist. They have developed a cell manipulation platform which allows them to drastically change drug discovery workflows in the pharmaceutical industry. As part of their mission, they are looking to appoint an experienced Fluidics Scientist to assist in designing and evaluating the microfluidic cartridge, fluid handling systems of the instrument they develop. Using your strong background in fluidics and engineering, you will be responsible for engineering and testing system improvements and analysis.

Key Responsibilities


▪ Core system design, part sourcing and integration activities

  • ▪ Evaluating and troubleshooting breadboard instruments

▪ System development and testing

▪ Running experiments in conjunction with cell biologists and scientists from other disciplines

  • ▪ Configure and test fluidic breadboard instrumentation and microfluidic devices

▪ Collaborate closely with software team to evaluate software components

▪ Contribute to technical meetings, work plans, test designs and meeting with external stakeholders

  • ▪ Prepare presentations and reports

Your experience

  • ▪ A first or upper second class degree in engineering or closely related discipline

▪ Significant technical experience in designing fluidic systems or life-science instrumentation / medical devices

▪ Experience integrating, building and implementing fluidic systems onto commercial instrumentation

  • ▪ First-principles knowledge of fluid mechanics, fluid handling and control systems

▪ Excellent problem-solving, communication and team working skills

▪ Experience working with optics, electronics

  • ▪ Experience with droplet microfluidics

▪ Experience using 3D CAD
