Editorial Rights Advisor Location: Berlin, Heidelberg and London Closing date: 6th July 2021 Springer Nature is recruiting an Editorial Rights Advisor (m/f/d) to provide support for publishing agreements, legal policies, processes and systems across the business. This broad, challenging and varied role covering both our journal and book publishing divisions will provide the successful candidate with exciting opportunities to get involved with projects for the Editorial Rights Department and assist with the development of best practice policies across Springer Nature. The main responsibilities of the role include: Respond to and monitor rights queries across the business • Provide advice to the editorial teams regarding the rights to use text, images, permissions for third party content and queries related to contracts and rights forms for content. • Ensure queries are responded to promptly, all queries are answered adequately and escalated appropriately when a business/legal decision is required. • Identify recurring issues and work with the Team Leader and Head of Editorial Rights to provide solutions to minimise further queries. Assist in the creation, and metadata maintenance for all rights contracts for content secured by Springer Nature • Ensure that all rights contracts are created or updated as needed • Monitor the use of rights contracts and templates by the various editorial divisions to ensure that the correct contracts are used and correct policy is followed. • Quality control of contracts for all products, ensuring that the basic compliance criteria has been met and amendments are in line with our business policies. • Assist in responding promptly to requests for evidence that Springer Nature have secured appropriate content rights. Assist with the updating and storage of guidelines and process documents • Ensure that all rights policy documents are updated in a timely manner to reflect any changes in policy. • Track rights policy documents and review on a regular basis. • Liaise with Team Leader and Head of Editorial Rights and stakeholders to ensure that guidelines and workflows are still relevant and update accordingly. • Organise and participate in rights training sessions for staff, working towards being able to lead in delivery of training sessions as required. Essential Requirements: • Educated to degree level (preferably in law) • Proactive, high levels of initiative and the confidence to act • Strong organizational skills, working with tight deadlines • Team player Desirable would be: • Experience with intellectual property, copyright, content ownership, contract texting • Experience working within Publishing, licensing, rights or compliance department • Fluency in German and English, both orally and written To apply please upload a copy of your CV and covering letter, stating your salary expectations.
