This is a critical role at Berneslai Holmes. You will take on the challenging but rewarding role of providing specialist advice and guidance in all aspects of data protection compliance across the whole organisation. The post holder is responsible for supporting the Senior Information Risk Owner, Data Protection Officer and Head of Governance and Strategy in their roles including: • Provide specialist advice and guidance to the business in relation to all aspects of compliance with Data Protection legislation • Support and promote a culture of data protection throughout the Company • Undertake projects and develop policies and procedures to support the continuous development of the Company’s approach to data protection Payrate: £18.58 per hour Start date: Immediate End date: 11/09/2021 (opportunities to go perm) Working hours: Part-time 22.5h (3 days per week to be agreed) Location: Gateway Plaza, Sackville Street, Barnsley, S70 2RD (Initially working from home) Key duties and responsibilities of our Data Protection Coordinator: • Identify, evaluate and review the Company’s data processing activities and maintain an up-to-date article 30 records of processing activity in liaison with managers across the Company • Prepare and deliver training courses and communications to staff and develop and review a range of resources to help staff to comply with their data protection responsibilities • Provide regular reports for Risk and Audit Committee on compliance with data protection legislation • Maintain an up to date knowledge of data protection legislation and research & communicate best practice in data protection compliance • Work with the Head of Governance and Strategy to ensure the company has an appropriate information Governance Strategy in place and to regularly review and update the strategy and associated action plans • Support managers to undertake Data Protection Impact Assessments ensuring privacy by design • Investigate data incidents and action as appropriate and identify any weaknesses in the processes • Be the first point of contact for all data protection issues and escalating matters where appropriate • Deal with requests by data subjects in relation their rights under data protection legislation Experience required: • Level 3 qualification or equivalent • Data Protection / Information Governance Training • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate and persuade others to follow a course of action. • Strong knowledge of Data Protection, the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. • Proven professional experience of applying Data Protection. • An understanding and commitment to working safely within the workplace. • An ability to analyse complex data protection issues and be able to provide effective and straightforward solutions • Ability to create training materials and deliver training workshops. • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards and commitment to continued professional development and work-based training • Experience in the use of ICT packages including Microsoft Office products or equivalent • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage own workload to meet competing deadlines • Excellent report writing skills and experience of writing reports based upon own research.
