Consumer Credit | Litigation Paralegal Our client based in Caerphilly are seeking Paralegals to deal with non-standard actions relating to accounts which are predominantly regulated by the Consumer Credit Act. The Role They are seeking capable and self-motivated individuals to be responsible for managing the relationships with the companies clients. Main Duties & Responsibilities will include: • To review non-standard accounts to establish whether an account falls within the criteria for proceedings to be issued and to establish the most effective and appropriate method of enforcement. • To issue County Court Proceedings including completion of all relevant county court documentation and calculating claims inclusive of interest and costs. • Drafting non-standard Particulars of Claim. • Dealing with defended actions which have been allocated to the various tracks. • Conducting small claim mediation hearings. • Completion of all relevant Court documents in relation to defended claims/part admissions e.g. Reply to Defence/Counterclaim, Witness Statements, Directions Questionnaires, Briefs to Counsel and entering and enforcing judgments. • Accounts on Specialist – Defence • Prepare free format correspondence e.g. letters to court, solicitors, and defendants. • Resolve/progress defences and non-standard actions in a cost effective manner. Assessing viability of cases and proposing accounts for closure, when appropriate. • Attending court to represent client. Skills & Experience required: – Experience of Regulated Debt Recovery preferred. • Excellent standard of written English including grammar, punctuation and spelling in order to communicate with clients or other organisations in a clear and concise way. • The ability to read and assimilate written language including data and abbreviations quickly. • .The ability to resolve any queries agents may have, and to relay accurate information to clients, court agents and other team members. • Ability to comprehend legal documentation and ability to understand instructions to court agents including amended and urgent instructions. • Ability to understand and log in a concise manner correspondence from clients, court agents and occasionally court officials • Listening skills are also important in order to gain information from clients and third parties. • Computer literate • Pro-active in the normal course of his/her activities to recommend improvements to existing procedures, processes, practices and systems, together with recommending new ways of doing things.
