Here’s what your new role will look like

  • Provide SME level technical knowledge and best practices in designing solutions across the four key areas of data engineering: 1) Ingest, 2) Store, 3) Prep, 4) Model and Serve
  • Deliver pro-active management and support of the deployed environments to agreed SLAs with a focus on security, optimisation, automation, and cost efficiency
  • Ongoing creation and maintenance of fit for purpose documentation, templates and processes aligned to evolving technologies and to support changing business requirements
  • Identify and document ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality including development of relevant metrics and KPIs that can be used to highlight said issues
  • Establishment of standards for and utilisation of Azure DevOps repositories to deliver change tracking and collaboration functionality
  • Liaising with related IS operational teams including cloud, analytics and reporting, and applications to facilitate a collaborative and aligned environment
  • Through normal operations and projects, work with business functions to understand requirements and provide challenge to ensure delivery aligns to company standards
  • Work with third party companies as required to ensure successful integration of new and changing data sources

To be considered for this opportunity you should be able to demonstrate…

  • General knowledge of Azure services
  • Experience working within an Azure environment as a data engineer
  • Understanding of data warehouse best practices
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and highly technical with ability to adapt to and solve problems
  • Demonstrably stays up to date on emerging functionality, processes, and trends in Azure data space
  • Experienced in data modelling from conceptual to logical to physical
  • Experienced in understanding and translating functional requirements to technical design and implementation
  • Experience of Azure technologies: Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, DevOps
  • General understanding of Database technologies (MSSQL/Oracle) & Power BI
  • Relevant cloud certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-200/201 or DP-203) & Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)
