Helsinki — A Finnish court on Tuesday fined a right wing politician 330 euros for making racist comments about Islam, the Finnish news agency STT reported.
Jussi Halla-aho, a member of the Helsinki city council for the nationalist True Finns party, is to take down the incriminating comments from his blog.
On his blog, Halla-aho linked Islam to pedophilia, which Helsinki district court ruled violated freedom of religion laws.
The politician was also charged with hate crimes, as he described immigrants as robbers and parasites on taxpayer money, but the judges dismissed the charge.
Halla-aho denied all the charges and said he would take the case to the court of appeal.
