My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter live in the UK. He is British, she American with settlement visa. I am considering applying for a long-term visitor visa so that I can travel back and forth between U.S. and UK with the majority of my time in the UK. I am retired and have adequate income, etc. I need to know the best method of shipping household goods to the UK if I rent a flat. Your help is appreciated.

I am a single, self employed woman looking to move to London in June. In budgeting my move, I was trying to decide whether the hiring a relocation company to help me to find a rental apartment was worth the cost that seems quite steep. If this is the best way to secure a solid, well-priced home, I am willing to spend the money. I just wanted some feedback.
Thank you in advance!

I am a former UK expat and child psychologist who moved to the Uk and back to the US with 4 young children. I found the emotional experience moving with kids a challenge and found it was an area overlooked in moving literature and "expat packages". I subsequently wrote a book called, "My Very Exciting, Sorta Scary, Big Move: A Workbook for Children Moving to a New Home". I would like to write an article or blog about this and make this book a resource for families relocating. Any advice?
