A statue of Turkmenistan’s first President Saparmurat Niyazov also known as Turkmenbashi is located atop the Arch of Neutrality, a 75-meter-high three-legged construction, which was erected in downtown Ashgabat next to the Presidential Palace in 1998. The gold-plated statue rotates to always follow the sun.
