Monthly inflation in Russia eased to 0.5 percent in October from 0.8 percent in September as pressure on food prices eased, official data showed on Wednesday.

September prices rose sharply after a drought and widespread summer fires destroyed up to a third of Russia's grain harvest but this problem eased somewhat in October.

On Tuesday, the World Bank estimated 2010 inflation in Russia at 8.0-9.0 percent, with the government expecting around eight percent.

The World Bank said that inflation would likely hold above eight percent in 2011.
