A state of emergency has been lifted in the Russian Siberian republic of Yakutia. It was declared a week ago after flood waters in the Lena River inundated nearby settlements, affecting thousands of people. Ferry traffic near Yakutsk resumed Thursday as melting ice floes moved further downstream. Ferry boats are the only means of transportation across the Lena.
