Russian army chopper crash kills three in Caucasus: report

A Russian Mi-35 army helicopter crashed Saturday in the volatile Caucasus state of Dagestan, killing three people, the Ria Novosti news agency reported, citing a defence ministry official.

The helicopter slammed into the mountains around 2:30 pm (1030GMT), killing all the crew on board, the defence official, Igor Konashenkov, said.

A special commission has been formed to investigate the cause of the accident.

Army aviation accidents are fairly frequent in Russia.
