10 killed in road crash near Russia-Finland border: official

Ten people were killed on Saturday in a head-on collision between a minibus and a truck carrying wood in northwest Russia near the border with Finland, officials said.

The 10 victims died in the accident that happened on the “Scandinavia highway not far from the Brusnichnoye post” near the Russian-Finnish border, the local administration’s statement said.

The minibus with a total of 12 passengers belonged to a company in Saint Petersburg, the main city in the region, according to the statement.

An inquiry has been opened into the cause of the crash, the local interior ministry said.
