Algarve restaurant voted the best in the world

The Ocean Restaurant, located in Vila Vita Parc, in Alporchinhos, Algarve, has just been awarded the Global Overall Restaurant of the Year 2021 trophy at the World Luxury Awards 2021.

Created in 2015, these awards are intended to praise the international luxury restaurant industry, voted for by more than 100,000 guests, travellers and industry participants each year, over a period of four weeks, to select the winners.

In a statement, Vila Vita Parc says it is “with pride that it receives two worthy international awards for the entire Ocean restaurant team, as ‘The Global Restaurant of the Year 2021’ and ‘Best Locally Sourced Produce Menu’ ”. 

The marketing director of The World Luxury Awards , Michael Hunter-Smith justifies the distinction stating that “we congratulate this year’s winners. True luxury is not easily achieved. It takes top efficiency and dedicated teams that are willing to go the extra mile. This is the definition of luxury. It’s what makes winners shine.”

This maximum distinction was based on the work that has been developed by Ocean Restaurants’ award winning chef Hans Neuner, who this year proposes a menu inspired by the islands of the Azores, Madeira and São Tomé. 

The tasting menu in this two-Michelin-starred space, respects the products and the seasons of the year, not only because it is part of the sustainability philosophy assumed by Vila Vita Parc , but also for the guarantee of quality and authenticity of flavour.

Harmonization is the responsibility of Ocean restaurant sommelier Ricardo Rodrigues, who is always guided by a careful selection of national and international wines, with a preference for limited and exclusive productions, unique opportunities for all connoisseurs and gourmands. This year, at the edition of The Best Chef , held in Amsterdam, Hans Neuner was ranked 50 in the best chefs of the world.
