Best CITO scores in seven years

ARNHEM – Scores on the CITO test for children leaving primary school were better this year than in previous years. The average score was 535.4 points, 0.3 points higher than in 2007. The CITO organisation announced this Wednesday.

The organisation responsible for the primary school leaving exam stresses that no concrete conclusions on an absolute increase in the knowledge level of pupils can be drawn, since the composition of the group of participating pupils is different each year.

Of the 154,000 pupils at 6,300 schools who participated in the CITO test this year, three completed the two hundred test questions without a single error. Eight children made only one error.

Boys did better than girls in the maths and geography sections, while girls got better scores for the language section. This has been the case for several years.
