A lawyer representing the 12 and 13-year-old boys said his clients ran away after seeing their 15-year-old friend pulled out a knife.

The Netherlands -- The lawyer of the two youngest suspects in the Urk village murder said his clients were not present when 14-year-old Dirk Post died.

The boys aged 12 and 13, who were released on Tuesday, said they ran away in fear when their 15-year-old companion pulled out a knife.

They added when their older companion rejoined them, they noticed he had blood on his trousers.

The three boys are suspected of killing the 14-year-old teenager and dumping his body in the woods of Urk.

The two boys remained in police custody in their homes till Thursday but do not have to spend it in a police cell. The older boy is still being held by the police. The examining magistrate has ruled that he can be kept on remand for two weeks.

On Tuesday evening, around 3,500 people joined a silent march in remembrance of Post. He was buried earlier in the day in a private funeral.
