War crimes court jails Croatian ex-general Markac 18 years

Judges at an international court jailed former Croatian general Mladen Markac for 18 years on Friday after convicting him of war crimes.

The verdict came after his co-accused, former general Ane Gotovina, was sentenced to 24 years in jail while a third defendant, Ivan Cermak, was acquitted at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague.
