UTRECHT - The city of Utrecht intends to ban polluting trucks. In June, the council will set up an environmental zone with strict entry requirements for vehicles that produce high levels of pollution. The measure is intended to improve air quality in the city.

Owners or drivers who can demonstrate that the entry ban has affected them unfairly can claim an exemption. This will be granted only in rare cases and will last for just one year. Drivers who persist in breaching the regulations can expect a fine of EUR 150.
