At a one day conference on Somalia in London, Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal pledged €2 million worth of aid for the troubled African nation.

Minister Rosenthal also said the Netherlands would contribute €300,000 and provide two experts to an international task force working to combat Somali pirates.

World leaders agreed to a range of measures to combat terrorism and political instability in Somalia. The country has been shattered by decades of civil war and tribal conflict.

Representatives from around 40 countries attended the conference, which agreed a seven point plan providing more humanitarian aid as well as more support for African Union peacekeepers stationed in the country.
