Solar Challenge resumes after bush fire

The second leg of the World Solar Challenge has been resumed after being halted on Monday because of a forest fire. The teams, including two from the Netherlands, started from where they stopped on Monday, reports the RTL news station.

The Nuon Solar Team from Delft University of Technology is currently in second place. Another Dutch team from Twente is also in the race.

A Delft team spokesperson says the cars had to slow down while driving through thick smoke. Small blazes could be seen from the road. The vehicles were able to pick up speed after the fires had been left behind.
