THE NETHERLANDS - A jury of professionals has named Dutch footballer Wesley Sneijder as one of the top 10 players in Euro 2008, one of whom will be awarded the "best player" title.

The other candidates are the Spaniards David Villa, Marcos Senna, Iker Casillas and Carles Puyol, the Germans Michael Ballack and Bastian Schweinsteiger, the Russian Andrei Arshavin, the Turk Hamit Altintop and the Croat Luka Modric.

The best player of the tournament will be announced Monday. However, Sneijder has little chance. Traditionally the winner is drawn from the team that wins the championship.

Sneijder also has two nominations for the best goal scored, one against Italy and one against France. Another Dutch player, Robin van Persie, is also on the list for a goal against France.
