THE NETHERLANDS - An annual report has revealed that the Royal Family spent nearly EUR 119 million last year. Eighty million of that sum went to the maintenance of palaces and security.

Some EUR 1,5 million was used for state visits and other events.

Queen Beatrix, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and his spouse, Princess Máxima, together received around EUR six million. Part of this amount was used to pay staff.

As of 1 January 2009 the Royal Family's budget is overseen by the Cabinet Office. Until then their expenses were covered by different ministries, making it hard to get a complete overview.
