NORTH BRABANT – At least 340 jobs will be scrapped at the Philips Healthcare plant in Best in the province of North Brabant.

The job losses - 10 percent of the total workforce in Best - will affect both production staff and management. One hundred people will be made redundant in the short term.

The cuts are part of a global restructuring programme which will lead to the loss of 1,600 jobs as a reaction to the economic slowdown.

Philips medical systems division has been hit hard by the weakening global economy.

Philips Healthcare is not planning to cut 16000 jobs, the real number is 1600 worldwide. This is 5% of the total (32.000) workforce in healthcare!
