SPANBROEK - Two works of art have been stolen during an armed robbery at the Scheringa Museum in the North Holland town of Spanbroek.

The pieces are a gouache entitled Adolescence painted by Salvador Dali in 1941 and an oil painting entitled La Musicienne by Polish art deco painter Tamara de Lempicka from 1929.

Shortly after noon, several armed men entered the museum and threatened a receptionist and a guard with a gun.

The robbers immediately went to the two works and took them down from the wall.

The Scheringa Museum houses the art collection of Dirk Scheringa, director of the DSB Bank and sponsor of Premier League football club AZ.
