New Lifestyle academy to combat obesity

A new Lifestyle and Health Academy will begin its first one-year vocational programme on 18 March, with a second batch of students planned to start in September.

The academy, located in Driebergen, offers health and physical therapists a one-year degree in lifestyle coaching based on a programme integrating diet counselling, exercise therapy and coaching. Combining these three approaches, research has shown, is particularly effective in combating unhealthy habits such as overeating, smoking and insufficient exercise. Health therapists usually specialise in just one area.

A degree from the new academy will enable graduates to set up their own practice or work in diet counselling or physiotherapy practices as well as hospitals and sports schools.
