THE NETHERLANDS - Earlier this week, European foreign ministers pledged to provide observers to monitor the cease-fire in Georgia. It is not yet clear which countries will participate in the mission, but speaking after a cabinet meeting, Dutch Prime Minister Jan-Peter Balkenende announced that they may include the Netherlands. The actual nature of the Dutch role still has to be discussed with other EU countries.

The prime minister also said that The Hague is still waiting for an explanation of the incident in which Dutch cameraman Stan Storimans was killed on Tuesday.

Earlier this week, Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen summoned the Russian ambassador to provide clarification on the matter.
