Moped driving test from 2010

Transport Minister Camiel Eurlings has informed parliament that a driving test for mopeds will be introduced from 1 January 2010.

Moped drivers will have to pay at least 390 euros for their licence and four compulsory lessons. Drivers who need extra lessons will have to pay more.

There is currently no licence requirement for motorised vehicles with an engine capacity of less than 50 cc. The government has decided to introduce the test to combat the relatively high number of road accidents involving young people on mopeds.
