Michelin guide sees rosy future for Dutch gastronomy

Three Dutch restaurants have been awarded a second Michelin star. The revered 2012 Michelin guide has promoted was already named '2011 Chef of the Year' by Gault Millau.

A second Michelin star means the restaurants have "excellent cuisine, worth a detour," which considering the off the beaten track locations is indeed necessary.

It is the first time that the Netherlands has more two-star restaurants than Belgium. Two top Dutch chefs have been given a star for their second restaurant, Sergio Herman and Jonnie Boer.  Herman has been given a star for his new establishment in the town of Cadzand, .

The Michelin guide says many of the restaurants have the potential to develop further: “The Netherlands has a rose-coloured gastronomic future”.
