MADRID – Dutch telecommunications company KPN has plans to enter a strategic partnership with British company Euphony to get a foot in the door on the Spanish mobile telephony market. The two companies are going to set up a prepaid service that targets foreigners living in Spain.

KPN announced this on Wednesday. Euphony will offer KPN’s mobile services in Spain under its brand name 'Talkout'.

The two companies are discussing possibly expanding their cooperation to other countries where both are active, KPN said.

KPN has wanted to enter the Spanish market for some time as a virtual provider – that is, without building its own network but by buying in capacity from existing parties and selling this on to its customers.
