ROTTERDAM - A judge in Rotterdam has ruled that the city's education councillor, Leonard Geluk, had no right to advise parents to remove their children from the Islamic Ibn Ghaldoun school.

The judge made his decision in a lawsuit brought by the school. Geluk must now write to all parents correcting his advice. However, the judge also ruled that Geluk may continue to say that the educational quality of the school leaves a great deal to be desired.

Not only has the Rotterdam city council recently suspended the school's subsidy but school inspectors have also described it as very poor and placed it on the lowest educational level in the Netherlands.
