FIFA:Netherlands-Belgium bid high-risk

The Netherlands-Belgium bid for the 2018 and 2022 World Cup football is unlikely to be accepted. According to an executive summary obtained by the BBC, the Low Countries face criticism over too few hotel rooms, co-hosting -which is seen as 'a challenge' - and a lack of government guarantees.

A FIFA commission visited all candidate countries this summer. Their reports play an important role in the final decision to be taken by the members of the FIFA executive committee. According to the BBC, the England and the Spain-Portugal bid were both given a 'low-risk' rating. The bids were rated on the basis of 17 criteria including training sites, hotels and infrastructure. The executive summary is due to be published on Wednesday.
