'Everyone can have a say about new legislation': minister

Economic affairs minister Henk Kamp plans to increase public and company involvement in drawing up new rules, saying outside input will make laws easier to understand and improve the way they work.

‘This in the end will reduce red tape,' Kamp says in a briefing to MPs.

The public will be asked for their input via website Internetconsultatie.nl and public consultation will become standard from next year, Kamp said.

The practice was first introduced in 2009 and the public have been asked to have their say about 250 pieces of legislation so far.

Emergency legislation and draft bills covering fiscal issues will be exempt.
