Dutchman held in US for breaking Iran embargo

The US authorities have arrested a 50-year-old Dutch businessman for violating the US arms embargo against Iran. He was detained near New York on Saturday.

The Dutchman, who appeared before the district attorney on Monday, is charged with selling aircraft components and peroxide to Iran. The prosecutor accused him of posing a threat to US national security.

If found guilty, he could face a one million dollar fine and a 20-year jail term.
